Shelby’s Summer Senior Portraits at Blue Hill Garden & Downtown Monroe
Shelby’s summer senior photoshoot was absolutely stunning! This was my first time photographing at Blue Hill Garden, and let me tell you—it did not disappoint. It turned out to be the perfect spot for senior photos (and I wasn’t the only one who thought so—many of my 2024 seniors chose Blue Hill Garden, too!). For her second location, Shelby picked Downtown Monroe, the cutest little downtown area with charming old buildings and that small-town vibe. The best part? All the colorful storefronts that added so much personality to her photos!
We kicked things off at Blue Hill Garden, where Shelby wore the most beautiful white dress. She came to her session with a clear vision (one of the things I love most about her!), including a hot pink cap and gown she had specially ordered. Pink is Shelby’s favorite color, and it matched perfectly with the vibrant flowers blooming in the garden that day. Since her school, Hough High School in Cornelius, typically uses black gowns for graduation, this fun pop of color added such a unique and personal touch. She even decorated her cap, and we captured some adorable detail shots—I’m such a sucker for those personalized touches!
From there, we made our way to Downtown Monroe. The pastel buildings were the perfect backdrop for her floral shirt, and Shelby brought along a gorgeous bouquet to keep with her floral theme. We had so much fun using the flowers as props—incorporating them into poses, creating movement, and capturing those sweet detail shots with the bouquet.
To wrap up the session, Shelby changed into her college tee just as the golden hour light hit. It was the perfect ending to an already amazing shoot, full of personality, color, and creativity. Shelby’s session was everything I love about senior photography—fun, unique, and a true celebration of this exciting season of life!
These building colors!!! I am obsessed!
